Status Quo Remains~

Crap. After causing all the hoo-ha, they cleverly brushed it off as a misunderstanding. They shouldn't have tried changing the weighting of Mother Tongue in the first place!

Just because of the handful of kids who're not doing just as well in their Mother Tongue, they tried to reduce the weighting at the expense of the majority who had also put in a lot of hard work but did fine. So, if parents whose kids are doing badly in English complain, are we going to have a lower weighting for English?

What about Science?! And Maths?! I for one had been through a lot because of my lack of talent in Maths. Well, we might as well scrap the whole of PSLE since there will always be kids suffering at the hands of the subjects they're weak in!!!

So parents, you complained that the MT weighting is too high, penalizing your kids who are weak in it. How so? 4 subjects, 25% weighting each; equal and fair isn't it?! Instead of teaching your kids to overcome the hurdle in their studies, you're teaching them to run away from it by trying to make the pinch of the problem seem less painful?!

Whatever it is, I'm really glad that the status quo remains. For cultural understanding or plainly for pragmatic reasons, our bilingual education system must never be compromised.
